Every addition to a system is a hypothesis about what matters. Every removal is a proof.
In research, I’ve found that the most productive phase of any project is the one where you start deleting. The initial architecture is always too complex — you add modules because they might help, conditions because they might matter, losses because they might stabilize training. Then you spend weeks discovering which of these additions were load-bearing and which were decorative.
The same principle applies to how I structure my life, my music, my tools. A Eurorack system with 200 modules isn’t more capable than one with 20 — it’s more confusing. The constraint of fewer modules forces you to understand each one deeply, to find the music that lives in the interactions rather than the individual parts.
